[D&D 4E][Magic Object] Stoneskin potion

Second potion designed with a little twist in mind. Are you ready to give up to reflexes to take more damage?
I guess everything depends of how's going the fight and who are you fighting.

Stoneskin potion
This potion is warm, torbid and don't look tasting good.
Power: Minor action. Drink this potion and gain Resist damage 5 and -5 to reflex until the end of the encounter

[Review] K2

K2 is a board game about some alpinists trying to reach the top of the K2. Doing so they will risk their lives against difficult weather conditions and extreme cold.

The Good
  • SCALABLE Two different seasons, two different tracks and a "hard mode" makes this game a lot more replayable than the argument may suggest.
  • TACTIC Most of the game is about managing your resourcesi n the best way possible, reducing the luck factor almost to zero.
  • LOGIC It's pleasant to play a game where often the most logic choice is the best one.
  • REWARDING It's not an easy game, but if you are careful, you will end up with a decent score and if are not careful, you will force your opponents to take bigger risks to keep up with you.
  • THE HARD MODE The hard mode adds a lot of strategic elements changing just a little rule (how many man can stand in a single space) and force you to plan carefully every move.
The Bad
  • BAD TOPIC Climbing a mountain is not the most exciting topic for a game.
  • THE BOARD The board is hard to read during play, cause the alpinists and the tents are positioned directly over the numbers you must read every round.
  • UGLY WOOD MEN The wood figures representing the alpinists are ugly and during my plays are often referred as "The Fat One" and  "The Dutch One"
The Verdict
I really loved K2 and I can't wait to play again. If you just can like the concept of a climbing game, K2 is the game you should play. Yeah, easy as that.

[D&D 4E][Magic Object] Troll's blood

Today and the next week you'll see just a couple of potions I designed to be found by my players in a fort full of ogres. the one keeping these was, ironically , the cook of the ogres the was using them to spice up the ranger's stew.
BTW, an Ogre's idea of "Ranger's stew" is a stew made OF rangers, not BY them.

Troll's blood
This potion is green and boiling. Want a sip?
Power (Healing): Minor action. Drink this potion and gain Regenerate 5 and Vulnerability: 5 fire until the end of the encounter

[Review] Yetisburg

Yetisburg is a non-collectible card game representing battles during the American Civil War. In this game, along with the standard troops you will command enlisted yetis and mammoths in the attempt to destroy the opposing army.

The Good
  • FUN Withstand your army being decimated by your own raging yetis is hilarious. Chains of exploding mammoths are too.
  • EASY & QUICK Half an hour to learn the rules and one hour to play a game are all you'll need to start having fun.
  • LOOKS COOL Artworks are appealing and fun and the two armies,  in spite of being numerical identical, shows totally different illustrations.
  • COOL Some of the mechanics and units are cool and fun to be played.
The Bad
  • TWO PLAYERS No way to play this game in more than two.
  • LUCK BASED Luck plays a big part in this game and a poor number drawn at a bad time can be disastrous. There's still space to make bad choices, but assuming you play right, the victory is in the arms of Lady Luck.
  • WHINER FRIENDLY I almost hear the voices of the whiners playing constantly complaining of every draw.
The Verdict
Yetisburg is a nice game, fun and fast. Is not a game for strategy maniacs, but it's a game girls-friendly, despite regarding war and yetis.

[Dragon Age][PC] Landon of Redwall

It's time for the last of the PCs!
This time I have only a concept left: a dog handler who loves more animals than people (and who wants to be alone).
Our hero will be lucky enough to build a character decent enough rolling random abilities? Let discover it together.

The picture is made by jjuuhhaa

Landon livedall his life in the small community of Redwall, breeding his dogs, farming and taking care of his daughter Ramoth.
Life was easy, crops where good and his three dogs where healty. In particular King was a great beast, many times winner in the local fairs and great as a hunter's companion.
One sad day, while Landon was in the field with the other two dogs, Bite and Growl, a small group of templars approached his house searching for his daughter Ramoth, having discovered she was an apostate. She screamed loud, searching for help, but the only one willing to listen was King that, while she fled, assaulted the templars, wounding one on them.
When Landon came back from the fields it was already too late to fix things: King was in a cage, his daughter was on the run pursued by templars and and the wounded one was waiting for him demanding the head of the dog.
There was nothing to do for him besides waiting news from his daughter, while being watched by the templar. Two days passed before the return of the templar squad bringing him news about his daughter's death, trapped in a building on fire.
Even in front of a man torn by pain, templars had no mercy and made him kill King in front of them.
Now Landon has left his house and have nothing to live for, besides his hate for the Chantry, Bite and Growl.

[Artwork] Nicc Balce

Hi guys (and girls)!

I was about to talk about an italian artist found on deviant art, when a little note on the bottom of his pictures stuck me.
The note was saying: "Please do not use, copy, reproduce or redistribute."
No problem for me, considering that I'm not becoming rich talking about deviantartists, but I really don't understand him (and ones like him).

So, let's move on on the next one, nicely provided by the favourites of that misteryous artist that doesen't want adverising :)

The name of the artist of the week is Nicc Balce. He is from San Francisco (but he was born in Chicago, IL).
HERE you can reach his website.
HERE you can find his deviantart page.

We need more Fallout fanarts!
A pic 3 years old that doesn't fel the weight of passing time,

This is how you imagine italian girls?
Even commissions look inspired!

[D&D 4E][Magic Object] The Scarab

Second shield ready for my warden.
Usually I create a lot of magic objects that never reach my players. I like to make me inspire from random artworks and never plan magic items depending on future challenges.
I remember a chainmail with resist fire that was useful just onece in 3 years of play.

The Scarab
This shield was forged by a secluded race living in the desert to protect their warriors fron the hazards of the environment.
Item Slot: Arms
Shield type: Heavy
Property: Gain a +2 item bonus to Endurance checks.
Property: You gain Resist 5 fire.
Power (Daily): Use this power after you fail an Endurance check. Reroll that check, using the second result, even if it’s slower

NOTE: You can print and fold this image to give it to your players

[Review] Dragon AGE Set 1

Dragon AGE is the tabletop RPG based on the popular videogame Dragon Age: Origins. The SET 1, which this review is referring to, brings characters from level 1 to level 5. The SET 2 is expected in the summer of 2011.

The Good
  • DARK MOOD Thedas is a dark world, with a lot of dangers waiting for your players. Forget D&D heroes, forget heroes at all.
  • MORAL DILEMMAS The Dragon Age setting is stand firmly on the premise that choices are not easy and to gain something you must lose something else. That concept will bring to you great adventures.
  • DEADLY Guys,if this is not clear enough yet, you are not in the Forgotten Realms anymore. Here my money is on the bad guys.
  • STUNTS Stunts are cool!
  • EXPERIENCE REWARDS I've found the way Dragon Age rewards your players, based on the real challenge they faced and not some matgh, a great one.
  • DRAGON AGE: ORIGINS DA:O is one of the games you MUST play in your life and this game is the perfect excuse to play the other.
The Bad
  • LIMITED CHOICES in this game you can't do everything you want. This is a bad thing only if you can't cope with that. I loved the fact that characters are deeply linked to the setting.
  • DICE DEPENDANT PCs Creating a character in the Dragon Age RPG involves a strong random element. That's because players are not about to be heroes the easy way. They have to earn it the hard one.
  • LIGHT RULES No tactical depth.
  • NOT BALANCED Being no tactical dept, characters are not balanced by default. It's totally possible that, with the favor of some lucky die rolls, a PC will be a lot stronger that the other.
The Verdict
Dragon AGE is a really good game. The setting is rich, especially if you loved the videogame. Pcs are fun, mages are fun, stunts are fun. Everything in this game is shouting "Try me!"
Do it.

Time for a new game?

[Dragon Age][PC] Oswin of Craigmorn

Hi! I'm slightly late with this update, but last week was a busy one, so be patient with me. :)

I'm here to introduce you the forth Dragon AGE PC I've created: Oswin of Craigmorn
Oswin of Craigmorn: a young circle mage who wants to be respected.

Oswin was born and raised in the a Cicle Tower and up his adolescence he didn't knew anytrhing but the cold walls around him. Days passed one after another in long study hours and magic practice sessions.
It's strange how , when all your life is planned, a little shake is enough to transform everything. The little shake in Oswin's life was called Ramoth and was a young pretty girl with a beautiful smile.
Capturing her was the first mission Oswin took part of. He and his companions chased the girl up to a small village up to the northern shore of Ferelden where she hid in an abandoned house.
Oswin wanted to go talk with her to try make her surrender, but his "friends" was not of that idea. Already tired from the chase, they decided to make her leave the building in the easyest way: settin on fire the whole building.
That didn't work really well and the poor Ramoth perished in the fire.
With the still hot corpse of a girl he didn't knew at all, the young Oswin, for the first time in his life, started to doubt the circle and the Chantry. Now Oswin is travelling in order to find a way, or at least a good argument, to free the mages from the control of the Chantry. Whatever it may cost.

Time for a new game?

[Artwork] cellar-fcp (NSFW)

Hong Kong is the birthplace of a lot of great artists.
One of them is known on as cellar-fcp.
If you look at his gallery you will notice that he likes to draw girls, naked girls and naked prostitutes. Nothing to object on that, considered that he does that great.

Wanna take a bath?

his girls are beautiful also dressed.
That's my favourite.
Look at the history you can FEEL behind this artwork
Still a girl. Still good.
